Are you interested in working with promoting health for sustainable development? Do you want to be a part of developing a society where public health is a central issue? Then this course at the University of Gävle, "Public Health Strategist for Sustainable Development," is the one for you!

Sustainable development –
a prerequisite for public health

To be able to establish long lasting health in society we need an understanding of how we can reach sustainability, socially, ecologically and economically. The separate perspectives are a part of the course. The aim is that you will be able to promote health for long lasting development both at the population level and at group level.

Competence that will become a necessity in the future

By taking the course you will acquire competence that will be needed in the future. You will gain sufficient knowledge to be able to contribute towards public health and a sustainable future.  On completion of the course you will have the opportunity to work either in the public or the private sector, in both cities and in the country. Your employers may be businesses, municipalities, regions, counties and other authorities.

Advisor, coordinator or strategist

You will be able to work for example as an advisor, coordinator or strategist within health promoting work and sustainable development.  The tasks may be to investigate survey, organise, and together with other professionals, plan a project that aspires towards a health-promoting job with the focus on sustainability.

When you finish the course you will be awarded a Degree of Bachelor of Social Science and this gives you the opportunity to be able to apply for further studies in public health, at master’s level.
