My Gävle test

MyGävle är en app som vi har utvecklat för att ta reda på mer om relationen mellan miljö, hälsa och välmående. Appen är en del av vårt forskningsprojekt BIG. Vill du vara en del av vår forskning och hjälpa oss att samla in data?

MyGävle är en app som används av våra forskare för att mäta hur stadsplaneringen påverkar befolkningens hälsa och välmående. Appen hjälper oss förstå vilka platser i Gävle som är bra för innevånarnas hälsa och välmående.

Är du intresserad av att delta i vårt forskningsprojekt och hjälpa oss registrera vilka platser i staden som just du har bra eller dåliga upplevelser av? Alla som vill kan ladda hem appen som är gratis. Av er som har laddat hem appen kommer vi sedan att välja ut ca 300 personer i olika åldersgrupper som kommer att ingå i vår forskningsstudie.

Hur deltar jag?

Genom att ladda hem vår app MyGävle och registrera dig hjälper du oss mäta hur stadsplaneringen i Gävle påverkar vår hälsa och vårt välmående. I appen kommer du sedan att få registrera både bra och dåliga upplevelser av staden.

Vem kan delta?

Du kan delta i vår undersökning om du är mellan 15-79 år och utan rörelseproblem.

Vilka får delta?

Av alla som laddar ned appen och registrerar sig kommer vi att välja ut ca 300 personer i olika åldersgrupper som ingår i forskningsstudien.

Hur länge pågår min insats?

Forskningsstudien via appen pågår mellan september 2021 till och med oktober 2022.

Vilka fördelar finns för mig som deltagare?
  • Om du blir utvald för undersökningen blir du erbjuden att köpa ett Garmin Vivosmart 4 fitnessband för 99 kr (ordinarie pris 1 199 kr) Du får behålla klockan efter att studien är genomförd. Om du avslutar studien i förtid måste du lämna tillbaka klockan.
  • Som deltagare i studien deltar du i ett lotteri med chans att vinna fina priser som bland annat en elcykel. Utlottningen kommer att ske både 2021 och 2022. Desto fler upplevelser du registrerar, desto fler chanser att vinna.
  • Appen MyGävle ger dig möjligheter att själv reflektera vad som är positiva och negativa upplevelser i ditt vardagsliv. Tillsammans med övrig data som forskningsprojektet samlar in får du insikt om hur ditt dagliva liv påverkar din hälsa och ditt välmående.
  • Som deltagare bidrar du till vår forskning och vår förståelse för hur hälsosamma, hållbara och livskraftiga städer ska byggas i framtiden. Alla de data vi samlar in under projektet kommer förhoppningsvis att bidra till att förbättra miljön i Gävle.


Så här fungerar appen

1. Registrera dig
Första gången du använder appen måste du skapa ett konto där du registrerar din personliga information, t ex kön, ålder, adress, personnummer, utbildningsnivå mm.
Du kommer också att få frågan om vi kan ta del av din geografiska position och dina aktivitetsinställningar. Det är för att vi ska kunna se hur du rör dig inom Gävle.

2. Rapportera bra och dåliga upplevelser av staden
För att vi ska kunna samla in information om dina upplevelser av Gävle ber vi dig att 1-2 gånger i veckan registrera dem i appen efter att du har besökt olika platser i staden. Det är enkelt att registrera din upplevelse eftersom det finns ett kort frågeformulär i appen som du använder dig av.

3. Enkätundersökning en gång/säsong
I början av varje säsong kommer du att bli tillfrågad att besvara en undersökning i appen (hösten 2021 och våren, och hösten 2022) Syftet med den undersökning är att utvärdera din upplevda hälsa och välmående och din kontakt med samhället i stort.

Forskningsprojekt BIG

Appen MyGävle är en del av ett större forskningsprojekt som heter BIG (Better life quality with Intergrative GIS) Projektet drivs av Högskolan i Gävle i samarbete med Future Position X. I forskningsprojektet används Gävle som en testbädd för att förstå hur hälsosamma, hållbara och livskraftiga städer ska byggas i framtiden.

  • Att mäta befolkningens egna upplevelser av staden som vi gör via appen är en del av forskningsprojektet. En annan viktig del är att samla in och skapa digitala kartor av staden Gävle.  Projektet syftar till att skapa kunskap för framtida stadslösningar som främjar individuell, social och ekologisk hälsa.

Sekretesspolicy

Who is responsible?
For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 2018 (“The Act”), Högskolan i Gävle is the data controller. This means that Högskolan i Gävle is responsible for protecting the data you provide when you use the MyGävle app. By using the word ‘we’, we refer to Högskolan i Gävle. We have adopted this Privacy Policy to ensure that the data that we collect from you via the MyGävle app is protected. By publishing this Privacy Policy, we aim to make it easy for you to understand what data we collect and store, how and why we collect it, and the rights you have as an individual to access your data. This policy applies to all forms of information, physical and digital, whether collected or stored electronically or in hardcopy.

The information we collect and how we collect it
When you install, run or use the MyGävle app we collect data from you. You provide your consent for us to collect this data when you start using the app. Your consent to provide this data can be changed at any time using the ‘Settings’ menu in the app. Participation in the study is private and confidential, your entries will be associated with an anonymous identification number. We collect the following data from you.

Socio-demographic and self-perception information
When you use the MyGävle app, you provide information about your age, gender, occupation. Using the MyGävle app we will also ask you to provide information about your connection with nature, your life satisfaction, your level of integration, trust, and cohesion with the community in which you live, and generally we will ask your opinion about how the landscape of Gävle makes you feel. You will not be asked to provide your name, contact details or any other information which could identify you directly.

Geo-location
With your specific consent, using the MyGävle app we will acquire information about your geographic location using the GPS sensor on the mobile phone in which MyGävle is installed. MyGävle app collects location data from sources such as GPS, Wi-Fi and cell towers once you install the app and consent to the app tracking your location. MyGävle app will track your location to understand how the environment that surrounds you can affect your wellbeing. If you consent to MyGävle app to link to other available accounts on your smartphone (e.g. Google, Facebook), we will also acquire information about your physical activity from your smartphone – your step count, distance travelled, and whether you are walking, running or cycling.

How we process and use your information
We process and use the information we collect about you in a variety of ways. We upload your information from your smartphone over a secure connection (SSL) to servers at HIG. The information you provide will be used for academic research to understand the impact of the urban environment on wellbeing, how people use the urban landscape, and to inform the planning and design of healthier and more sustainable cities.

The data may also be used for other research purposes in the future. The results will be published in scientific journals and presented anonymously on the website dedicated to the project (https://fpx.se/big-project-eng/). If you post publicly about BIG project using social media, or communicate directly with us, using the BIG website or on a social media website, we may collect and process the data contained in such posts for the purpose of addressing any requests you may have and for public engagement connected with the research project.

How we store your information
The information you provide using the MyGävle app is stored on your phone until you uninstall the app. When you connect to a Wi-Fi or cellular mobile phone network, your information from MyGävle app is transferred to our servers over the internet in an encrypted format. We encrypt the data you provide using the app so that it remains private, confidential and secure from unauthorised access. Your data is stored securely on servers at the Högskolan i Gävle. We reserve the right to change the data storage provider at any time in the future and if we change provider, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly. The data that we collect from you will be stored in the European Economic Area (EEA). However, it may be transferred to and stored at a destination outside the EEA, in order to collaborate with other organisations for research purposes in the future. Data may also be processed by third parties and/or staff operating outside the EEA who provide services to us in connection with the research purposes. We will retain data to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy for an indefinite period of time.

How we may share your information
Your participation in the BIG research project is private and confidential. The information you provide will remain with Högskolan i Gävle and may be shared securely with the project partners for research purposes. The information you provide may also be shared securely with organisations who provide services to us in connection with the research purposes, for example data storage, as stated in this Privacy Policy. We will not disclose your information to unrelated organisations or third parties under any circumstances.

How we keep your information safe and secure
We take your privacy, confidentiality and the security of your information very seriously and we will take all reasonable precautions to protect your data from unauthorised access. This includes appropriately securing our electronic networks, servers, computers and physical facilities. Your data is stored securely on servers at the Högskolan i Gävle with no external cloud service provider. We reserve the right to change the data storage provider at any time in the future and, if we change provider, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

We will endeavour to ensure that our partners or any third parties to which we may transfer data according to the terms of this Privacy Policy have acceptable privacy and security policies. We will govern the sharing of information for research purposes or in relation to services provided to us in connection with the research purposes, by data sharing agreements which will ensure that third parties keep the data safe and secure. However, the collection and use of an individual’s information by such partners or third parties may be subject to separate privacy and security policies for which Högskolan i Gävle is not responsible.

Complaints and disputes
If you have a complaint about our handling of your data, you should address your complaint in writing to the Project Lead. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you consider that the processing of your data infringes the General Data Protection Regulation. If we have a dispute regarding your data, we both must first attempt to resolve the issue directly between us. If we become aware of any unauthorised access to your data which is likely to result in a high risk for your rights and freedoms, we will inform you without undue delay using the MyGävle app, once we have established what was accessed and how it was accessed.

Additions to this Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If we decide to do this, we will post a notification on MyGävle app and we will post a new version of the Privacy Policy on our website and on MyGävle app. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon posting on MyGävle app.

Samtycke

The research head of the project is the University of Gävle. The research leader is the organisation responsible for the study. The BIG project aims to understand which environments in Gävle promote individual, social, and ecological health.

Who can participate?
If you live in the municipality of Gävle, are at least 15 years old and at most 79 years old, with no pre-existing mobility or cardiovascular issues you can participate in the study.

What are the benefits of participating?
There are many benefits associated with participating in the project.

First, you can one of the 500 people who are selected and offered to buy a Garmin Vivosmart 4 for 99 SEK instead of 1.199SEK. After the study is terminated you get to keep the watch. However, if you cancel your participation or do not complete the study, you will have to return the watch or pay an additional 550 SEK to keep it (649 SEK in total).

Second, as a participant in the study, you will be entered into a raffle at the end of 2021 and one at the end of 2022 for a chance to win several prizes including e-bicycles. The more questionnaires you answer, the higher your chances of winning will be.

Third, MyGävle offers a moment of reflection about what are the positive or negative aspects of your everyday life. Together with all the other data collected it also offers you the possibility to understand how your daily life affects your health and wellbeing.

Lastly, you'll be contributing to research that aims to understand how to create cities where individual, social, and ecological co-exist and promote each other. All the data that you provide us is the first step to eventually improve the living landscape of Gävle.

What are the risks of participating?
The research will collect your personal data over a long period of time. It may feel uncomfortable to give away personal data.

How does the study work?
You will be asked to fill in a profile page here in the app with information about your gender, age, home address, address for work or school, income level, education level, marital status, and how long you have lived in Gävle.

Afterwards, there will be two questionnaires that you are asked to reply to. One questionnaire is about your everyday experiences in Gävle. This short survey asks you to locate ‘good’ or ‘bad’ experiences in Gävle based on where you have been. This questionnaire is how we collect information about your personal experience of Gävle and should be answered at least once every two weeks. Additionally, at the beginning of every season in in 2021 and 2022 you will be asked to answer a baseline survey that aims to evaluate your perceived health and wellbeing and your level of connection with the community.

Using the GPS sensor of your smartphone, MyGävle will collect data on where and when you interact with the city of Gävle.

Some participants will be offered the opportunity to purchase a Garmin Vivosmart 4 activity watch for 99 SEK (regular price 1.199 SEK) to wear during the project. The watch will collect information on physical activity. In case you are part of the representative study, win the shuffle prizes, or we have issues accessing your data we will contact you via the notifications of MyGävle app or via your email address.

How long will the study last?
The study will run from September 2021 to October 2022.

What happens to my data?
Your personal data is collected for use in research. According to the EU Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), research carried out by state higher education institutions is a task of public interest. Your personal data will be compiled by the app, de-identified, and stored on a protected part of the University of Gävle's server. Only authorised researchers will be able to access the information collected about you and only for research purposes. You have the right to access, free of charge, the information about you that is processed in the study, and to have any errors corrected if necessary. You may also request that data concerning you be deleted and that the processing of your personal data be restricted. If you wish to access the data, please contact the principal investigator of the study, Matteo Giusti (matteo.giusti@hig.se) or Karl Samuelsson (karl.samuelsson@hig.se). The Data Protection Officer can be reached at registrator@hig.se, 026-64 88 56. You can also find these contact details later under the Settings tab. If you are dissatisfied with the way your personal data is processed, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority, which is the supervisory authority.

Participation is voluntary
Your participation is voluntary and you can choose to withdraw at any time. If you choose not to participate or wish to discontinue your participation, you do not need to state your reasons, nor will it affect the way you are treated or responded to. If you wish to discontinue your participation, you can do so via the ‘exit the study’ function in the Setting tab of the app.
