Illustration step 4

4. Retrieve your HiG card

The HiG card gives you access to the premises as well as to the study rooms, labs and campus computers you may need during your study period. The card is also your library card as well as your copy card.

The HiG card has several uses

You retrieve your HiG card at the Student Centre reception desk. In order to retrieve your card you must be registered on your first course and be able to present a valid form of identification. The card is free for all students and has three uses.

HiG stands for Högskolan i Gävle, which is Swedish for University of Gävle.

Entrance card

The main entrance and other entrances are open during the day Mondays to Fridays. But as a student, you can always enter the University with the help of your HiG card. You also have access to the computer rooms on campus.

Library card

You can use the HiG card as a library card if you activate it at the Library. More information in step five.

Copying and printing

There are several public printers in various locations throughout the university campus. You can use your HiG card to access and manage the campus printing services. New students are provided with free printouts for 100 SEK. When needed, you can add funds to your printout-account online through the print portal.
