Projects have traditionally been regarded as carrying out challenging tasks in order to overcome obstacles to achieve desired goals. The goals have been rather clear, the project content and surroundings able to manage and control and the outcome possible to reach. With globalisation, Project Management has become a greater challenge than ever before. Because of increased overall world interconnectedness and related complexity, goals can easily be changed, the project more difficult to plan and organising requiring continuous stakeholder relationships, new project group roles and responsibilities established, and the surroundings a continuous leadership watch searching for control and stability.
Before adopting a specific project strategy, several change dimensions are necessary to consider for successful project management outcomes. Despite all project difficulties to manage, today we can see how project management is attracting increasingly sharper focus and how multiple projects are working together in new forms to reach desired goals. Many organizations and sectors are project-oriented and in ways that it is possible, to talk about the project oriented society. In short, project leadership in time for the future, requires new leadership skills, stakeholder collaboration and environmental watch. The course highlights new Project Management from an organizational, contextual perspective and present current leadership challenges in the course literature.
There are different definitions of what a project really is. Project can be small or large, well or more loosely planned, performing incremental or radical changes – in short, there are different project perspectives depending on the project context and leadership skills required. However, project all share in common the intention to create change within a base organisation with the use of limited costs, specified time and requirement of quality in performance and deliverables.
The objective of the course is to increase the students understanding of Project Management requirements through taking part of written examination, analysis of articles and project work. By the end of the course, the students are expected to:
The course will be conducted through holding six lectures and discussions on the topics of project management. Students are requested to attend the six lectures. Moreover, students need to submit the individual home exams as well as individual assignments on article analysis and group assignments on management of real life projects and literature review as part of the evaluation of the students for this course. It is compulsory for the students to attend and participate in the individual article analysis seminar and group project seminar. The students also need to submit their home exams and assignments on safe assign of Blackboard on time as per course schedule to receive grades.

The communication between students and teacher will be face to face during lectures, seminars and pre-scheduled meetings as well as though e-mails and discussions on Blackboard. The course contents, schedules, and information will be uploaded in the Blackboard and all important announcements related to the course will be also on the Blackboard. Moreover, individual or group emails will be sent to the students’ email accounts regarding important matters related to course.
Registration for exams, including re-takes, is mandatory. You can register for exams via Ladok. You need to register at least ten days before the exam date. If you fail to register you will only be able to sit your exam if there is a n empty place in the exam hall.
If you are a distance study student and want to take your exam off-campus, you need to apply to do so at least three weeks prior to the exam date.
After your course has finished you will be sent a we-based course evaluation questionnaire via e-mail. Your participation in the course evaluation is very valuable to us and you comments will help improve and develop the course further. All students registered on the course will receive a report of the course evaluation with all comments compiled.
