Helping people in vulnerable situations is a part of everyday life for a social worker. Internationally this line of work can offer extraordinary challenges, which may manifest as differences in values and perspectives concerning culture, religion and tradition.
As a student at the international study programme in social work, you will acquire knowledge about individuals, groups and societies. Through problem-based learning, you will learn to combine theoretical knowledge with issues and problems in the social field.
The demand for social workers with an international profile has increased dramatically over the last few years. As an international social worker, you will have a broad field of work either abroad or in your home country with international aid organisations etc. Other workplaces for a social worker include the public sector within individual and family care, the prison and probation service, addiction treatment or youth and family counselling.
The international study programme in social work is aimed at both Swedish and foreign students, and English is the language of instruction. Upon completion of the programme, you will receive a social worker degree. The programme will also fulfil entry requirements for further studies in second-cycle courses.
