At the core of urban social geography lies the study of the interrelations between the physical and social environment of cities and the people inhabiting them. The aim of the course is to provide a broad introduction to the theory and methods used in urban and social geography. The course will examine several relevant topics, e.g. the issue of residential segregation, residential mobility, urbanism, identity, ethnicity, class, gender, inequality and conflicts in the city and ethical issues. This course also provides an introduction to scientific methods used in the field. This course is followed by the course Urban Studies.
